Our privacy principles:
This Privacy Policy explains what information Otterz Inc (“Otterz” or “we” and sometimes “us”) collect about you and why, what we may do with that information and how we handle your Content when you use Otterz Applications, App, Software, Services, and Websites (all of which we henceforth collectively refer to as “Otterz website, App” or “Service”).
Information we Collect and Receive
We collect information to provide better services to all of our users – from figuring out basic stuff like which language you speak, to more complex things like which services you would find most useful, the people who matter most to you online, or which Service Providers you might want to use. We collect information in the following ways:
Information you give us
Information we get from your use of our services
Device information: We collect device-specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information including phone number). Otterz may associate your device identifiers or phone number with your Otterz Account.
Log information: When you use our services or view content provided by Otterz, we automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This includes:
Location information: When you use Otterz, we may collect and process information about your actual location. Precise GPS from mobile devices is collected only with your permission. WiFi and IP addresses received from your browser or device may be used to determine approximate location. This information is used to provide you with service recommendations and also to protect against suspicious and fraudulent activity in unrecognized locations.
Cookies and similar technologies: We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit Otterz website, app or Service, and this may include using cookies or similar technologies to identify your browser or device. We also use these technologies to collect and store information when you interact with services we offer to our partners, or Otterz features that may appear on other sites.
Information we collect when you are signed in to Otterz, in addition to information we obtain about you from partners, may be associated with your Otterz Account. When information is associated with your Otterz Account, we treat it as personal information.
Content that you send and receive within Otterz. This includes:
Information from partners or other 3rd parties. Otterz may receive information from partners or others that we could use to make our own information better or more useful. This might be aggregate-level information about which IP addresses go with which zip codes or it might be more specific information about how well an online marketing or email campaign performed.
Our Cookie Policy
We may collect non-personally identifiable information passively using “cookies” and “page tags.”
“Cookies” are small text files that can be placed on your computer or mobile device in order to identify your Web browser and the activities of your computer on Otterz and other websites. Cookies can be used to personalize your experience with Otterz (such as dynamically generating content on webpages specifically designed for you), to assist you in using Otterz (such as saving time by not having to reenter your name each time you use a form), to allow us to statistically monitor how you are using Otterz so that we can improve our offerings, and to target certain advertisements to your browser which may be of interest to you or to determine the popularity of certain content. You do not have to accept cookies to use Otterz. Although most browsers are initially set to accept cookies, you may change your browser settings to notify you when you receive a cookie or to reject cookies generally. However, if you reject cookies, certain Otterz features may not work properly or at all and you may have a degraded experience.
“Page tags,” also known as web beacons or gif tags, are a web technology used to help track website or email usage information, such as how many times a specific page or email has been viewed. Page tags are invisible to you, and any portion of the Otterz communication, including advertisements, or e-mail sent on our behalf, may contain page tags. By using cookies and page tags together, we are able to improve the Otterz Service and measure the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing campaigns.
Finally, you should be aware that this Privacy Policy does not govern the use of third-party websites or services or providers of third-party services.
Third Party Services
In addition to our own services, we use 3rd party services like Google Analytics, Hubspot and Mixpanel, etc, who provide website analytics cookies to help us improve the experience we offer you. This may involve transmitting your device id, anonymized analytics identifiers and anonymized event data to these 3rd parties for analysis so that we can better understand your experience with our service. You may opt-out of third party cookies from Google Analytics and Mixpanel on their respective websites.
How We Use Your Information
Data Export Options
Otterz offers options for content export at individual document level. We currently do not have an option for mass export of your data. Such features may be released in future.
Choices for Users
When you use Otterz, you have control over a number of things with respect to your own privacy and choices about how your content is visible to others or not. You may always deactivate your account through an email to hello@otterz.co. Deactivation of an account disables your access to Otterz Service, and permanently deletes the content associated with that account but does not delete your profile. Content that was shared with you, but is owned by others will still be accessible by the owners of such content. You are always able to delete any content you have uploaded to your account. When you do so, access to the content will be removed for you and for any others with which you have shared it. Please note, however, that if someone you share some content with copies that content into their own account, if you later delete that content, that content will still be available to the user that made the copy. Also, please note that, when you delete content, we do not always or immediately overwrite this deleted data on our servers. Consequently, Otterz might still have access to this content for up to 30 days.
Sharing and Disclosures
There are times when communications and related content and other user information may be shared by Otterz. This section discusses only how Otterz may share user information. Otterz may share information:
Where Information is Processed
Otterz is based in the United States, and currently available only for businesses based in the United States. We may transfer your information to other countries, either at your direction, or for processing purposes. While in transit or while stored in our datacenter, it is possible your data will be subject to surveillance, without our cooperation, by the government of the United States or other countries. Your data is encrypted on your device, during transit, and on our servers. We will resist surveillance to the maximum extent permitted by law, technological boundaries, and in accordance with the terms of this privacy policy. We are also committed to providing you with advance notice, whenever possible, if we receive a governmental or law enforcement request for your content.
Due to a recent European Court of Justice judgment declaring as “invalid” the European Commission’s Decision 2000/520/EC of 26 July 2000 “on the adequacy of the protection provided by the safe harbor privacy principles and related frequently asked questions issued by the US Department of Commerce”, Otterz is currently not available for EU residents. If you are a EU citizen or resident, please delete your data and contact us immediately to get your account deactivated.
Security
Otterz takes reasonable steps to protect information you provide to us as part of your use of the Otterz website, app and Services from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. We follow generally accepted standards to protect the personal data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. Every single document that you upload via Otterz is encrypted with 256 Bit AES encryption. All traffic to our website and all communication between our apps and our servers is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Emails, text messages, and notifications we send are not encrypted. However, no electronic or email transmission or digital storage mechanism is ever fully secure or error free.
Children’s Information
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Otterz is not designed for or directed at children under 18. If you learn that a minor child has provided us with personal information without parental/guardian consent, please contact us. Parents/guardians of minors are allowed to save personally identifiable data related to their children.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, and if we do we will post any changes on this page. If you continue to use Otterz after those changes are in effect, you agree to the updated policy. If the changes are substantial, we may provide more prominent notice or seek your consent to the new policy.
